On 12th May this year, Budimex signed a contract with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Warsaw for the construction of the S7 expressway on the Modlin-Czosnow section in the Mazowieckie voivodship. The works will include the construction of an expressway of about 10 km in length and 20 km of service roads.
Three lanes in each direction
Under the contract, Budimex will be responsible for the preparation of the construction design, obtaining the necessary decisions, and then the construction of a 9.7 km long section of the S7 dual carriageway expressway with three lanes in each direction.
These are subsequent stages of the S7 investment in the Mazowieckie voivodship. The new road will allow the residents of Warsaw and Tricity to have a safe road connection. I would like to thank our partners that despite the epidemic they are strongly involved in the investments – said Andrzej Adamczyk – Minister of Infrastructure during signing the agreement.
We have the current bridge to rebuild and it will be over 30 km of service roads and the main road in total. The whole team is ready, we start design works for which we have the next 10 months. Our experience and competences gained also at the A1 construction site between Tuszyne and Piotrków allow us to think with optimism we will finish the construction before the contract deadline. We believe in it because the cooperation with the client is very good, for which we thank you – said Dariusz Blocher – President of Budimex.
Construction works will be carried out under car traffic. It will be a demanding construction because we plan to keep both roads under car traffic, but the period from 2021 to 2023 will certainly require patience from drivers. We apologize for the impediments waiting in advance – added Dariusz Blocher.
Modlin-Czosnow is the third section of work within the adjustment of DK7 to the parameters of the expressway in the section Płońsk-Czosnow. Ultimately, the S7 expressway will have 3 lanes in each direction. The contractor will, among other things, extend the existing road, build junctions and connections for local traffic between the junctions, build bridges in the future S7 and viaducts in the course of and over the expressway, and expand two existing road junctions: Modlin and Błonie. The investment will also include the construction of noise barriers and animal passes.
Travelers’ comfort
Budimex will also take care of the functionality of the infrastructure not only for car travelers. The bridge on the Vistula River in Zakroczym will gain a sidewalk and a bicycle path. Moreover, there will be a place for travellers and tunnels for pedestrians. The contractual deadline for completion of the works is May 2023, and the net value of the investment is PLN 486,83m.
The construction of the S7 in the Modlin-Czosnow section is another road infrastructure project carried out by Budimex. Budimex also implements sections S19 Via Carpatia in Podkarpackie voivodship, Trasa Kaszubska S6 in Pomorskie voivodship and Via Baltica S61 in Podlaskie voivodship. The Company is also currently carrying out, among others, works on the construction of the Wałbrzych bypass in the Dolnoslaskie voivodship. In addition, in April this year, the Company is also working on the construction of the Wałbrzych bypass in Dolnośląskie voivodship. Budimex also signed two contracts in May 2020: for the construction of the S5 expressway in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship and the S5 in the Warminsko-Mazurskie voivodship.
