Dariusz Blocher resigns as CEO of Budimex

Dariusz Blocher – President of Budimex SA submitted his resignation from the post of the President of the Management Board to the Supervisory Board on 6 April. It is a planned decision and is connected with his further professional development after twelve years of leading Budimex, the company informed.
After 12 years of performing the function of the President of the Management Board of Budimex S.A, I have decided to resign from this position as of the day preceding the General Meeting of Shareholders of Budimex S.A settling the company’s activity in 2020. It is a scheduled decision. The reasons for the resignation are beyond the company’s control. They are connected with the possibility of taking on other, non-operational supervisory tasks within the Ferrovial Group – says Dariusz Blocher. I believe that I will be able to use the gained experience in a different way, supporting Budimex and Ferrovial in their further development – adds Dariusz Blocher.
I intend to submit my formal resignation as soon as the date of the General Meeting of Shareholders has been set, but I would like to announce my decision today. Working in Budimex for the last 19 years I have met many wonderful people: committed, open, for whom the values of our company are important,” emphasizes Dariusz Blocher. Together we have built an unquestionable market leader with the biggest, diversified and profitable order portfolio. Together we went through both good and very difficult times, which taught us humility and diligence. At the same time, while striving for the development of the company, we did not forget about supporting others who needed help more. These were years of hard work, but also of great satisfaction with the development of the organization and pride in the success of our teams,” says Budimex President.
I would like to thank our investors, contractors and subcontractors with whom we completed hundreds of construction contracts over the past years,” adds Dariusz Blocher.
From 2009 to 2020 the value of Budimex’s sales increased from PLN 3.2 to 8.3 billion. At the same time, the number of realized contracts in the same time increased from 80 to over 200, and the value of the whole portfolio – from PLN 5 to 12 billion, with simultaneous improvement of the profitability from 6 to 7 percent.
Dariusz Blocher is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering at Częstochowa University of Technology and IESE Business School in Barcelona. He started his professional career in Ahlstrom – Fakop factory. From 1994 to 2002 he worked for Pepsi Co. Poland, initially as Manager of the Sales Branch, HR Director in the Sales and Distribution Department, and since 1998 as HR Director in the production plants and Pepsi Cola headquarters in Poland. In 2002 Dariusz Blocher joined Budimex SA. He was appointed member of the Management Board, Director of Human Resources. Since 2009, Dariusz Blocher has been the President of the Management Board, General Manager of Budimex SA. In 2017 Budimex became the largest general construction contractor in Poland. In June 2019. Budimex’s CEO was appointed as Ferrovial Construction Group Director for Europe, where he managed Ferrovial Group’s European markets: Poland, the UK, Ireland and Slovakia. He combined his new role with the position of President of Budimex in Poland.
