On 18 April, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) signed a contract with Mirbud, worth PLN 857m, for the design and construction of a section of the A1 motorway. It concerns the 24-kilometre section Piotrkow Trybunalski-Kamiensk. This is the last section of A1, which was awaiting the general contractor. All the remaining sections in the Silesian and Lodzkie Voivodships are already under construction.
The contracting authority’s budget amounted to PLN 897m gross, other bids exceeded this amount. The prices of the bids were within the range of 96-171% of the ordering party’s budget.
According to GDDKiA, an important aspect is the inclusion of a “milestone” in the contract. The contractor must provide drivers with one roadway, but with two lanes in each direction before the end of 2021.
The A1 motorway will enable the drivers to cover the route from the Tricity to the southern border with the Czech Republic in about 5 hours.
