Warsaw authorities have signed a contract for construction projects for two stations on the first metro line: Plac Konstytucji and Muranow. The selected company is Metroprojekt, and the project documentation is to be prepared in such a way as to enable the completion of the entire investment by 2026.

Thanks to the new stations, the distance between the existing stations will decrease from about one and a half kilometers to about 700 m, which should definitely increase accessibility this form of communication for local passengers.

New stations along the first line of the Warsaw metro are part of the announced implementation of the Warsaw metro extension program. As a reminder – in mid-September, the metro began to run between new stations along the 2nd line in Praga Polnoc and Targowek (stations: Szwedzka, Targowek Mieszkaniowy and Trocka).

Recently, important events have taken place that will bring the implementation of further investments closer:

– test drives on the section on the Wola district  2nd metro line are underway (the probable date of opening this section is the turn of March and April 2020)

– a loan from EBRD for PLN 1.5bn for the extension of the second metro line (extension west from the operating Rondo Daszynskiego station to the new Karolin technical and parking station and also to the north-east – to the Brodno station); – Warsaw authorities resolved the tender process for the technical study of the 3rd metro line, in which five designers took part (1st section of the 3rd metro line between the National Stadium station and the Goclaw station). The consortium of Egis Poland, Transeko Brzezinski, Dybicz and Szagala as well as Egis Rail was selected to analyze three variants of the planned section.
