The tender for the contractor of the A2 Motorway Siedlce – Biala Podlaska section between the Lukowisko junction and the region of Swory has been settled. Intercor company won the tender for PLN 369m brutto.

The tasks of the contractor will include preparation of the construction project, obtaining decisions necessary to start the  construction works, and then construction of approximately 12.5 km of the motorway section. The motorway will be a dual carriageway with two lanes. The design will include the provision for the construction of the third lane in the future. The roads parallel to the motorway will also be built to serve adjacent areas.

The construction of the motorway will shorten the travel time from Biala Podlaska to Warsaw, which is currently around 2 hours in good driving conditions, or 3 to 4 hours in heavy traffic. The completed sections of the motorway, including the Minsk Mazowiecki bypass, have already managed to shorten the driving time and ensure driving comfort and safety for the travelers.

The new sections of the A2 motorway will open the region to tourists and will also facilitate the cross-border traffic. This will enable the improvement of the economic situation of the region by creating new jobs. The construction of the motorway is essential in the vicinity of the village Malaszewicze, where the extension of the Dry Railway Port, receiving loads from China, is underway.

In the second quarter of 2021, the contract for the investment is planned to be signed. Completion of works is scheduled for 2024.

The tender for the construction project of the last section of the A2 motorway from Biala Podlaska to the border crossing in Koroszczyn was announced in December 2020. The motorway is planned to run from the eastern border of Poland to Swiecko on the western border. The ultimate length of the motorway is to be over 620 km. Currently, over 480 km are in use.
