The investment including the reconstruction of the Lech Bridge in Poznan commenced in the second half of 2018. It is a part of the task “Improvement of transport conditions within the national road No. 92 in Poznan”. The project is co-financed by the City of Poznan and the European Union, and the value of the investment amounts to PLN 54m.
New, much better parameters
The old Lech Bridge was built in the early 1950s. It had seven spans, 12 metres wide and two lanes. The new bridge is three-span, and thanks to the fact that it is 5 metres wider it is possible to start a third lane, as well as to build a wider pavement and a two-way bicycle path.
Good cooperation between the investor and the contractors pays off
The demolition of the old bridge and the construction of the new one took place in record time, in less than 1.5 years. It was possible thanks to joint efforts and good cooperation of Poznanskie Inwestycje Miejskie (PIM) with the contractor, which was a consortium of Most Sopot and KSH from Srem.
Interesting construction solutions
It is also worth noting the applied constructional solutions. According to PIM representatives, buildings with 100-metre-long spans do not appear in Poland very often. Rarely in Poland is also used a composite structure from the top and bottom. Thus, the Lech Bridge will be one of the first bridges of such a construction and parameters in Wielkopolska and in Poland.
