Fotoplan 2021 is a detailed map of the entire area of Warsaw, which was created using aerial photographs. The plan has very high accuracy and the city authorities have made it available on the capital’s internet platform.

The new photoplan of Warsaw covers an area of 737.6 km2, which includes both the urban area and the outskirts of the capital. The map, in which one pixel corresponds to 5 cm on the ground, was created using aerial photographs. They were taken on 28 April and 11 May 2021 from a Partenavia P-68 aircraft flying at an altitude of about 1,300 m at a speed of around 250 km/h. The high accuracy of the map, even in the highly built-up city centre, was achieved by taking additional flights.

The photoplan is available on the capital’s portal (www.mapa.um.warszawa.pl), where both Warsaw residents and tourists can use it. According to the city’s authorities, the detailed map will be able to be used for many purposes, including nature, communication, tourism, urban planning, security, and property identification.

It is worth mentioning that the new photoplan will also appear in the Web Map Service and will be available free of charge.
