According to the data published by the Central Statistical Office, in 2020 the number of new dwellings completed increased – instead a decrease in terms of space was recorded in the case of commercial, industrial and warehouse properties. The area of ​​office buildings also increased in percentage terms.

As many as 221,400 flats were completed last year, up 6.7% year-on-year. Compared to 2019, the amount of usable residential space delivered also increased – by 6.6%, delivering a total of 19.6 million m2

Despite the fact that, according to GUS data, fewer office buildings were completed (by 8.2% compared to 2019), their usable area increased significantly – giving a total of 1.27 million m2, i.e. 16.2% more than in the previous year.

In 2020, 2,652 new commercial and service buildings were commissioned, which signifies a decrease by 6.6% as compared to 2019. The total size of the usable area has also decreased – amounting to a total of 1.99 million m2, i.e. 5.4% less than in the preceding year.

Last year, 979 new industrial buildings were built, which means a decrease by 6.2% compared to 2019. The usable floor area of ​​such buildings decreased drastically – it amounted to only 2.81 million m2, which is as much as 22.1% less than in 2019.

In 2020, the decrease in warehouse space was visible, but comparatively smaller than in the case of industrial or retail and service space. Last year, 2,261 new warehouse buildings were completed, which is 3.9% less than in 2019. The area of ​​warehouse buildings in 2020 amounted to 4.23 million m2 and decreased by 3.6% compared to the previous year.
