The size of the roofing market in Poland in 2019 will amount to over 60 million m2 – this is the information provided in the latest PMR report entitled “Roofing materials market in Poland 2019. Market analysis and development forecasts for 2019-2024”. The results of the survey of roofing companies presented in the report indicate that the flat roofing segment suffered a decrease in the volume of modernization works, which had an impact on the dynamics of the entire roofing market in recent years.
Forecasted increase in size of roofing market
In the PMR report “Roofing materials market in Poland 2019. Market analysis and development forecasts for 2019-2024”, we estimate that in 2018 the size of the roofing market in Poland amounted to approximately 59 million m2 (down from the previous year). The dynamics of the market in 2018 was affected by a smaller area of non-residential buildings and a slight increase in the area of residential buildings delivered for use.
Not without significance is also the decrease in the volume of modernization works performed by roofing companies on flat roofs. According to our research, while in the case of pitched roofs the share of modernisation works in the total area of all roofing companies’ orders in the last five years has remained at a similar level, in the case of flat roofs we can observe a clear decrease in the volume of modernisation works.
In 2019, we expect a rebound in the market. In the case of pitched roofs, this is due to an assumed acceleration in the delivery of new single-family buildings, while the growth in flat roofs will be supported mainly by an increase in the delivery of non-residential space (which we expect, among other things, due to the record number of building permits in the hotel segment in 2018 and a strong recovery in the warehouse segment).
