Porr started on 2 August the construction works on the Borki Wielkie-Mragowo section of the S16 expressway. This is the next stage of the construction of the S16 expressway in the Warminsko-Mazurskie voivodship.

The S16 road is the main transport route for the region but also has international importance. In the future, this road along with the S5, S7, S10, S51 and S61 road system will create a new east-west transport corridor in northern Poland.

The new section will be about 16 km long, which includes about 13 km of the S16 and about 3 km of the Mragowo bypass as part of national road no. 59. The section of the ring road in Mragowo will have a single carriageway section with one lane in each direction, while the S16 road will have a dual carriageway section with two lanes in each direction.

Since the part of the new route runs on the old track, it is also necessary to build a service road, parallel to the existing DK 16, which will be used by drivers during construction. The investment also includes the construction of engineering structures to protect the environment, including, among others, three crossings for large animals, acoustic protection and the planting of trees and bushes. Access to the expressway will be possible through two junctions – Sorkwity and Bagienice
