Grupa Azoty Zaklady Azotowe Pulawy has signed a contract with a consortium of companies comprising Polimex-Mostostal, Polimex Energetyka and SBB Energy for the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a power unit in Pulawy. The unit with a gross electrical capacity of 90-100 MWe will be fired with hard coal.
Contract for PLN 1.2bn
The subject of the agreement is the construction of a condensing extraction unit with a coal dust boiler with a closed cooling system and wet fan coolers.
The remuneration due to the consortium amounts to PLN 1.16bn. The total budget of the project amounts to PLN 1.2bn net. Other costs will include, among others, costs of integrating the power unit with existing installations, as well as costs of the contract engineer.
Three bids were submitted in the tender. In addition to the selected consortium, the bids were also submitted by a consortium led by Rafako and PowerChina Nuclear Engineering Company Limited.
Turnkey construction
The project implementation will be carried out in the “turnkey” formula, taking into account all construction works, deliveries and services necessary to start up the power unit. The scope of construction will include a complete coal-fired unit containing all the equipment and technological installations necessary for cogeneration of electricity and heat.
ZA Pulawy have the right to issue an order to the contractors to commence work within three months from the signing of the contract. The unit should be commissioned for use within 36 months from the date specified by the company in the order to commence work.
