Prices of construction materials are on the rise

Building material prices in April 2021, compared to April 2020, increased by 4.7% on average, according to data from PSB Handel Group. This is the second consecutive month with dynamics exceeding 4%. Since the beginning of this year, the growth rate of building material prices has clearly accelerated.
April saw y/y increases in 19 commodity groups:
- OSB (+32.4%),
- lighting, electrical (+9.6%),
- thermal insulation (+7.9%),
- drywall construction (+7.9%),
- installations, heating (+7.1%),
- garden and hobbies (+6.5%),
- roofs and gutters (+5.0%),
- tools (+4.4%),
- equipment, household appliances (+4.0%),
- cement, lime (+3.6%),
- tiles, bathrooms, kitchens (+3.0%),
- paints, varnishes (+2.7%),
- construction chemicals (+2.6%),
- finishes (+2.5%),
- waterproofing (+2.2%),
- joinery (+2.1%),
- decoration (+1.8%),
- home environment (+1.1%),
- automotive (+0.2%).
The decrease in prices occurred only in the group of walls, chimneys (-6.6%).
In the period I-IV 2021, prices of construction materials, compared to the same period of 2020, increased by 4.2% on average. Increases were recorded in 18 commodity groups:
- OSB (+20.7%),
- drywall (+12.1%),
- thermal insulation (+10.0%),
- lighting, electrical (+5.8%),
- cement, lime (+5.4%),
- installations, heating (+5.4%),
- garden and hobbies (+5.3%),
- roofs and gutters (+4.7%),
- tools (+3.8%),
- equipment, household appliances (+3.2%),
- woodwork (+2.8%),
- finishing (+2.7%),
- automotive (+2.3%),
- construction chemicals (+2.2%),
- tiles, bathrooms, kitchens (+2.1%),
- paints, varnishes (+2.0%),
- decorations (+1.4%), waterproofing (+0.9%).
The prices fell in 2 groups: house surroundings (-0.1%) and walls, chimneys (-6.1%).
