Investments on railway line no. 7 Lublin-Deblin were officially resumed by new contractors, PKP PLK informed. The contracts cover all the works not carried out by the Astaldi consortium, which came down from the construction site.
The investment was divided into two parts. The Deblin-Naleczow section (together with the Naleczow station) will be completed by Budimex, whose contract amounts to PLN 616.4m net. The second section of Naleczow-Lublin (together with the Lublin station) will be modernized by Trac Tec Construction. The works on this section were valued at PLN 627.7m net. The agreements signed at the end of March include track, network and around-track works. The new contractors will also be responsible for the construction of platforms, pedestrian access roads and the laying of the track on the approximately 67 km section Lublin-Deblin. There will also be a new line connecting the line from Stalowa Wola with the line in Warsaw. At the end of September this year, there will be a new railway line from Stalowa Wola with a line in Warsaw. PKP PLK intends to resume traffic on one track on the Lublin-Deblin section. On both tracks, train traffic will be available at the end of 2020.
The modernization will contribute to increased comfort and safety at 17 stations and stops. Additionally, the travel time from Lublin to the capital city will be reduced to 1.5 hours. The new connection between the line from Stalowa Wola and the line to Warsaw will increase the possibilities of passenger traffic service and enable avoiding Lublin stations by freight trains.
