Selena, a Wroclaw-based company producing and distributing construction chemicals, decided to stop production at its two Chinese plants, due to the coronavirus epidemic, and informed Gazeta Wroclawska Ilona Gajewska from the company’s press office.

Two plants

Selena has been producing in China for more than 10 years, employing 70 people permanently. The company decided, taking into account a number of circumstances and factors, including the guidelines of the Chinese authorities and the supply of materials, to suspend production at its two plants, Nantong and Foshn Chinuri, where sealants are produced. The interruption of the plants is expected to last until 9 February.

All Polish employees of the company have the opportunity to return to Poland and continue working in the plants located in the country. So far one of them has taken advantage of such an opportunity, Gazeta Wroclawska reported, quoting Ilona Gajewska, Selena’s spokesperson.

Fatal infection

The coronavirus pneumonia epidemic broke out in December in Wuhan, China and has already killed at least 170 people, according to official data, and more than 7.7 thousand people were infected.  Apart from China, the virus is already present in other countries around the world, including several European countries. So far no case of the new coronavirus infection has been reported in Poland.
